The door on my Frigidaire Gallery series front load washer won't lock and gives an err then loc alarm. There are no obstructions and the door swings open easily and shuts easily but the lock light will not come on. Any ideas?

What model do you have? We have a similar problem with a Fridigaire front loader, and the repairman said it was the door lock component. Simple to replace, but he didn't have the part, so we're waiting for it to be shipped here.

That's a week waiting for the guy, a week waiting for the part, then we've got to wait another week for the repair guy to come back out. Three weeks with no washer over the holidays!

He said if we replaced the part ourselves it would void the warranty.

I suspect there is a design flaw in these door locks that make them vulnerable - time for a recall???
