how do I add oil to the transmission?

I think my car needs oil in the transmission I don't know where it goes

Should be a tube coming from trans near the rear of the motor
Crank car up and let warm up and check trans fluid with car running. This is a automatic trans isn`t it >?
If its a manual trans it will need to be checked under car by pulling the side plug and checking for fluid level
