A CLUNKING NOISE FROM MY T18 BACK AXEL ?

Hello I was towing a heavy loaded trailor with my westwood t1800 Kholer engine fitted.and now have a loud clunking noise from the gearbox/backaxel the tractor will move then stop and the clunking noise will still be heard

True - but a new trans IS cheaper that a new tractor, and you CAN fit a heavy-duty version.

Depands on the condition of the rest of the tractor.

no point paying a huge bill for repairs. your WESTWOOD IS KAPUT. not made for heavy towing!!

Sorry to say you have probably lost some teeth off a pinion in the transmission.

In theory, you can tear it down and rebuild it, but parts are hard to find (particularly now, as Peerless are in a state of flux following the folding of associate company Tecumseh), and ruinously expensive if available.

Only sensible option is a replacement transmission. There are some around (at the moment) - if you need a quote drop me a line with the numbers off your existing unit.
