Hi.
If you can't clear E1 by pressing the clear button, then I suspect this machine has been sitting unused and now it has lost all data. In the front of the manual, you'll find RAM clearing information. Follow that, then you'll need to re-program the machine. If it fails agin when unplugged, then the battery is faulty.
