When I try to start my Whirlpool ADP4601 dishwasher it does nothing but display a 4 beat flash code. If I hold down the start button the pump will start and run for a while and then display the flash code again. I have found that if I tip a gallon of water into the bottom of the machine before holding down the start button the machine will start and complete a cycle correctly. Any ideas???

I paid an engineer to mend my machine. He said that the outlet pipes were blocked with various bits of dishwasher slime, gunk, etc. It took him 45 mins to unblock everything. He advised only ever using a hot wash. Avoid the eco version with colder water. I paid him £60 and was very happy with the result.
