Soap dispenser door doesn't open during cycle?

Ariston LS 605 Dishwasher. The 2-compartment dispenser does not open during the wash cycle and the soap tablet is still present in the dispenser at the end of the cycle.

The detergent door is opened by an electrical solenoid inside the main dishwasher door - I guess this has failed.
