Why won't my 'AEG OKO Lavamat 72620 Update' take in fabric softner?

My my washing machine is an 'AEG OKO Lavamat 72620 Update'. It seems to work fine except the fabric softner reamins in the draw during the wash cycle. Does anyone know why this might be and know what I can do to fix it?
