Countax C600H battery not charging indicator on?

The battery not charging indicator "C" is permanently on the dashboard, and eventually the battery runs flat, yet it will charge externally on a sealed battery charger and the charge fuse is *not* blown.

Actually now looks like the charge coil. I measured only 4V A/C output, and when under load (connected to rectifier) it drops to 1V A/C.

I had a similar problem with my C600H, it needs a new 12v battery regulator, briggs and Stratton do it, available on ebay for £70.00.
