the control light says that it is working but it does not give out cold air,i got told it may need to be recharged,so i took it to kwik fit where they charged it and checked for leakes but told me that it was something else that was wrong with it and did not charge me for the re-gas is there anything i could check or do myself

Nothing you can do yourself with car air con, unfortunately...there could be a compressor or sensor fault preventing the system from working. Isn't your car still under warranty?
