Is it practical to attempt a diy repair for this problem? I have quite good mechanical skills but I am limited in electronic knowledge & skills. I have been told that sometimes this type of problem can be solved by lubrication, could this be true? If it is a possibilty what lube oil should I use?

Would spare parts still be available for this VCR?

Will appreciate any advice.
