how to fix bad radio recption in megane?

Have got a 2003 megane. have a new cd/radio in it now but also had the same problem with the original cd/radio. cant get good radio reception. always lose fm radio stations and a constent noise on fm and am. have had a new cd/radio fitted and had new aerial tried on it and booster but neither worked.had heard it might have something to do with earthing?it only seems bad when the engine is on. is there anything i can try to fix it?it has always been like it since i had the car.

Sorry Michael - I don't have an answer, but I have exactly the same problem with a Citroen. Have you managed to solve yours yet? So far I've tried several radios, replacement coax cables and aerials, a suppressor on the alternator, bonnet and radio earthed separately and a rubber belt hanging off the back of the car to try and minimise static - in case that was what was causing the problem. Nothing's worked - was going to try a booster aerial but it doesn't sound like that helped you much, so I just wondered whether you'd got an answer to your problem yet??
