How can I cover cat scratches on a forest green leather sofa
scratches are not thru they have taken colour off top layer.

I had just bought a new as in brand new bonded leather sofa. My cats chose to add claw marks the next day. I went to wall mart, bought fabric glue, didn't work, then clear nail polish and lightly rubbed the polish over the spots to seal them. I then took a sharpie in red(couch is red), dabbed it, rubbed over it with a damp cloth and it seemed to cover pretty well. I may need to redo the last step. I bought an area rug that matches sofa that I use on it when I am gone, which keeps them at bay. I also have a green leather chair they worked on, and am going to repeat my process on it. I know best remedy is to get rid of cats. That is a permanent fix.

For a quick and economical cover job, I use permanent marker. Usually only have to deal with black or brown colors, so your forest green sofa may be a bit difficult to match, but there are definitely green permanent markers out there. If the hue is lighter during the first application, after it dries, go back over the spot again with the marker.

Dab the tip of the marker on the area, don't draw the color on. Then use your fingertip to rub the spot, blending the color in with the leather (also smudges the line seen if you draw the color on, instead of dabbing).

This is only a color fix, which helps hide the obvious damage. As for repairing the texture of scratched smooth leather, I myself would like to know how. Perhaps continuous polishing of that area?

I am looking for the same thing. I did see a kit under Yahoo...How To Repair Leather Chair - $14.98 and was thinking of ordering. Have you discovered any answers?
