Links in web pages don't work, why?

I use Windows XP. When I click on a link on a web page nothing happens. If I copy the link and paste it into the browser's address field the link is good.

Why can't I open new web pages by clicking on links?

Internet Explorer 6 has a glitch.

This may work for you.

Click Start > Run

Enter each line individually, pressing Enter at the end of each line.

regsvr32 Urlmon.dll
regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 shdoc401.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll

Then Start Internet Explorer and click Tools > Internet Options > Programs > Reset Web Settings.

Start IE then try your links again.

If this fails then the next step is usually to try the IE6 Service Pack 1 which fixes the problem (so say Microsoft.... ).
