how to unlock chuk on makita drill?

I opened the chuck too far on my drill, now I cannot tighten it. It is a keyless, Makita 6410. How do I fix this?

Put your Makita drill in a low gear and low torque and make sure the clutch is fully engaged. Take a pair of pliers and gently turn, tightening, without damaging the chuck.
