Hi i have a rover 45 y reg .just had new clutch put in car .however on picking car up drove 20 miles went back to car and wouldnt turn over recovery came out and started car with jump leads went straight away.he tested battery and was fine .drove home wasnt happy with clutch because now and again there was a grinding noise .garage man came to look and said it was a case of getting used to clutch .so he left .i went to put it away in garage and on turning the key NOTHING same problem as before .this has only happened since they put clutch in has anyone got any idea what this could be please ?i am awaiting for him to collect car now .someone suggested it might be starter motor wire come out when doing clutch .thank you carol

Possibly starter wire, more likely they have damaged, or poorly fitted, the engine earth cable.
Do you have a set of jump leads? If so, take ONE lead, clip one end to your cars battery negative terminal and the other end to a solid piece of metal on the engine, something like the lifting out bracket.
If the car will now start, the earth cable is your problem.
Do not keep the car running with this jump lead in place as it may come loose, this is a test method, not a repair!
