Backlight dim?

The backlight on my Janome Memory Craft 8000 has dimmed after almost 20 years of daily use. I would expect this of an LED but don't know if it can be replaced or how to go about dismantling the machine to get at it.

It is possible to replace the LCD Backlight for your Janome MC 8000, take a look at this link below.

There are also included resources to do some other preliminary checks in a Self Test mode, to ensure that there are no other serious complications with your machine...also 'how to' access and replace LCD Backlight diagrams from the original MC 8000 Workshop Service and Repair Manual (Full Service and Repair Manual is also available separately):

no dealer is willing to touch it! It's a DIY job or scrap. The trouble is that my financial circumstances are different now and I could never afford to replace like for like

The light can be replaced but it is advisable to go to a sewing machine dealer
