The colours on the screen of my laptop are starting to distort?

I have an Acer Aspire laptop its just over two years old and in the last week the colours on the screen have started to distort. For example small blue lines appear round the edges of borders and when loading sometimes the background turns a bit red. Just wondering if there is anything I can do to stop this happening? My operating system is XP.
Thanks
Michael

My Acer is doing the same thing and I don't know how to fix it economically either. If I put pressure on the sides of the screen or move it 's angle it helps for a while. It also needed a new battery before the 1 year warranty was up also.
