Need help with 20-year old Tizio 35 lamps?

Recently, I have had problems getting the light on my 2 Tizio lamps, and if it comes on to stay on.
I read that the contacts need to be cleaned and/or the transformer to be replaced. Any specifics on how to do that with dishing out big bucks at a hard-to-find lighting repair store?
Thanks.

Transformers either work or they don't work and it's quite rare for a transformer to fail and most unusual for a transformer to work sometimes and not other times - I have never seen such a fault.

The chances are you have a poor contact problem. Possibly a broken wire inside the insulation - rare and difficult to diagnose but after 20 years of flexing worth considering.

Regarding cleaning the contacts there's a switch cleaning lubricant spray you can get from Maplin made by a company called "super servisol".
It comes with a little plastic straw like WD40 so it's directional.
