My oil boiler is heating water but not the house?

I have an oil heating system which heats the water and the house and was new last year. It worked last winter and we have since refille dthe oil and it continued to work. However, we have come to turn the heating on this week and it doesnt appear to be working, no heat is coming from radiators but the water is still hot! This seems very strange, especially as the Water is hot even its not meant to be. The immersion heater is not on. Does anyone know what might be wrong and what needs to be done to fix this.

Many thanks

hi thanks John, that's really helpful to know. Do you know if its an easy job to do or should i get someone in?

For the pump...can you feel it vibrating slightly, and are the pipes to and from it both hot? If not, and you can see a large screw in the pump centre, undo this (prepare for some water dribble) and you'll see another screw beneath which is the impeller for the pump. See if you can turn it. If the pump is running though, best to get someone in to change the diverter - it could just need the electric top changing, or maybe the whole thing.

Yep - the circulating pump is stuck, or there is a faulty diverter valve in the boiler.
