How to fix chimes?

Our Ridgeway grandfather clock chimes very slowly. The only weight that moves is the one in the middle. How do we fix this problem?
K. Gilmer, October 2009
The oil in your clock has dried out and you need to have it oiled. This must be done by pulling the entire movement out, the face removed and the oil applied only to the oil sinks on the front and back plates of the clock. While this is being done it should be checked for any wear in the bushings. Unless you have experience with clock repairs I would call a professional in to do this. He can do it in your home.
