what happened to my car?

my car was working fine until i put it in reversethen i had no power on accelerator i turned car off tried it again and the ignition is making a humming noise same as accelerator iv tried the coil and the starter motor its a fiat punto 1998

i had same problem on my punto and it turned out it was the clutch slave cylinder, best to check this before looking at a new clutch.
