the car will not start but it sounds like it wants to i just bought a new fuel pump but it still dont work

could be one of a 100 things!
is the engine turning over fast enough? is there fuel pressure? is there a bright spark? what engine is it? has the timing-cambelt snaped? could be an engine managment fault eg crank sensor e.c.t. need more information about the vehice
