slide the power button up and hold it there for a few seconds.
Try unlocking your mp3 and then turning it off.

I dont' have the answer...I have the same problem. Even when I program it to turn off after 10 minutes it won't power off. When I listen to it, I can't get it to stop playing. I have to let the battery run out in order for it to stop.
