Depending on whether you have warranty or not - you can do the repair yourself or you can have Krups fix it for you. I just fixed the problem on our machine, it was giving error code 06. I used the information given by "paul on trav" on this page: http://www.fixya.com/support/t5422782-xp7240_recently_only_half

Very useful information, in particular on how to access the 4 hidden screws and open up the machine.

Seems to work fine again. It was the valve in our case as well, but due to coffee rest clogging/blocking it.

Hi Steve,

Whats the solution? You get a new seal and replace yourself? or did you have to send the machine off for repair?

I had the same problem. The fault lay with the pressure relief valve. Inside the valve is a piston which itself has a plunger with a small o ring seal. This seal becomes deformed over time to the extent that water passes under pressure rather than causing the plunger to seal against the o ring. The water that passes then flows out of the overflow inside the machine into the rear of the drip tray, rather than being pumped through the brew chamber.
Hope this helps.
