1211 is the correct code for that serial number. I would not have thought that binning the radio would be necessary. Not sure why you cant enter the code though. Might be worth calling in to a decoding place and tell them you know the code but can't input it, they may be able to throw some light on the problem and even if they charge you to do it should work out a lot cheaper than a new radio.
