Lawnmower, Mountfield Emperor Type 012183 Serial No. 83307?

My Mountfield Emperor has lost the self drive. The shaft that comes out of the side of the engine has stopped turning hence no drive. It is not the roll pin half way down the shaft it is the first part of the shaft that comes directly from the engine that is not turning.

New drive belt required

Peter, May 2012
There are two roll pins, one to secure the driving sleeve onto the belt pulley and one to secure the driving sleeve to the engine shaft. From your description it seems that the engine side roll pin has sheared. Drive it out and replace both sides.

The gear on the end of the cam shaft that drives the pto shaft needs looking at, there should be an inspection plate on the bottom of the engine to gain axcess to this.
