no hot water or heating

The problem is a faulty gas v/v. these are available on the boiler spares websites. You can replace it or do what I did on my 35 year old boiler. Make sure you have 230/240v from the boiler thermostat to the gas v/v soleniod and the central heating is switched on with the room thermostat set higher than room temp. Also on the gas v/v make sure the pilot light plunger is fully raised, then hit the gas v/v with a shoe. It worked for me. This will free a sticky soleniod v/v inside the gas v/v. If the solenoid is burnt out it will not work. Hoping for another 35 years from my potterton Kingfisher!

240v going to solenoid on gas valve ok, does this mean solenoid windings gone open circuit ? Pilot light ok.

Does anyone know if spares available to replace solenoid only ?

Had the same problem on mine. Check the red button under the box with the 0-4 knob on it. Some kind of trip switch. Pressed it in on mine and all came back to life
