The cast iron downpipe from the roof gutter on my house seems to have developed a leak . Maybe due to rusting or otherwise. Quotes to repair /replace the pipe appear quite expensive. Is there anby material available for a reasonable D.I.Y repair. All suggestions welcome

You could try applying a 2 part metal compound which is used on car exhaust systems, this can be purchased at the likes of B&Q or Halfords.
