My Nikon D200 sometimes loses its ability to auto focus?

I was told to remove the lens and put back on it would reset. Any other suggestions?

Check the contacts on the lens and the body are clean and shiney and check the manual/auto focus switch on the body and if applicable on the lens is positively in the auto position
