electrical fault ford focus ghia estate 1.8 zetec 2001?

when driving speedo will drop to zero and car loses power. also radio goes quiet at same time. will come back on after a few minutes. any ideas please

Speedo sensor on the gearbox faulty, it also feeds speed info to the engine ECU and to the radio for auto volume control
