fitted a light in my livingroom and there was 2 single red wires and 2 twin and earth cables.now my whole down stairs is lighting up from the living room switch.how can i get light just to work living room

One of the t&e will be the feed from the consumer unit, the other the feed for the next room.
The two red wires will go to the switch - one wire is live, the other only live when the switch is closed, which goes to the live of the fitting and NOT the live loop to the other rooms, which is probably what you have at the moment.
