loud bang from peugeot 406!!?

loud bang then very noisy engine. did run ok for 3 miles,stopped. Altenator belt shredded, noise still there
does not appear to be exhaust
Any Ideas?

think your alternator belt has been eaten by your cambelt and jumped some teeth, and done some damage to your engine now.
