Mountfield RV 150 Starter Cord?

I started my Mountfield for the year's first mow at the weekend. The cord pulled out and started the engine, but stayed 'out'. Taking the covers off, the engine end of the cord was a tangled mess. I untangled, but cannot now get it to rewind. I can do it manually in order to fire up, but it won't rewind. There must be a magic trick that I am missing. Any thoughts?

Recoil is a modular unit- best fit a new one only cost around £20

The cords are set up on a recoil type system, so when you fit your new one you would have to recoil the rotary untill it stops then connect your new cord, then put it all back together befor you let the cord recoil back in to its housing. Hope this helps.

Assuming the the spring is not broken you need to re tention the spring, basically put the cord into the cut-a-way in the pulley this will then allow you to wind the pulley and tention the spring, do not over wind as this will just pull the ends off the spring.
