any clue how to fix a "scanner failure" issue on an hp officeject allin one?

the bulb works fine, it prints fine, just won't scan or copy..& the power cycle instructions from hp's online chat folks did nothing at all...the person on the phone seemed to think that it's hardware issue and the best they could offer was send me to READIOSHACK if you can believe that......HELP ; )

Just buy a new one. They are dirt cheap.

I don't know, because from few months sometimes it does't fax then after few days it started working. Four days before I restored my computer and took out all the officejet connections and then I install it in the computer with officejet d 135 cd. Now I change my black cartridge too and printing is just okay but copying and faxing are the problem that I can't solve. Please help me for that.I am a student and I have a lot of school work to be done on that.fax machine is still showing me the scanner failure.

According to one of the HP forums, on some models the solution is take the top off, access the mirrors and remove the plastic shield, then reassemble without the dust shield in place.

Same issue with my Dd145. I read cleaning the glass helps. Also read cleaning the 'mirrors' helps but can't tell you how to do that. I found some related answers through a Google search using "HP scanner failure".
