pioneer A600 hi fi will not recognize CD's?

my pioneer A600 hi fi shows "NO DISC" when i try to play a CD. for some reason it does not realize that there is a CD in the system

if you try to play cd burnt from computer on a premid90s cd player it wont read cd-rs or rw store bought encoded cd will work only.
