Where does the little silver bit fit in the switch of a qualcast power trak?

I was fixing a loose cable in the switch housing of my qualcast power trak 34. The little silver piece shaped like the letter L, fell out and I don't know where it fits.
I have looked a diagrams online, but it does not look clear.

Fits in the top half of the assembly to which the handle is fixed. Hold this half so that you are looking at the inside with the red button top right. The handle is on the right. Hold the "L" spring so the foot of the "L is on the left and the foot points away from you into the assembly. Now position the spring so its right hand end is a few mm from the end of the red plastic tail coming off the button and parallel to it. The foot of the "L" now inserts into the assembly and the black pointy head that is part of the lever rests on the right hand end of the spring. (needs a diagram! )
