renault cam belt?

My Scenic 5dr 1.9 dci had a safty check at the main dealer and they say the timing belt should be changed at 75000 miles or 5 yrs, it's done 29000 but it is 5 yrs old.Is this correct it will cost £350? The car is running fine.
Cheers Mike

yes really 5 years is old enough for a belt. they perish. best to get it changed as if it snaps its a lot more expensive to strip down engine and replace broken parts.

It might be running fine but if the belt snaps you will be looking at a repair bill into the thousands!! or even a replacement engine!! even though you have'nt done the mileage, it's due on time, as with age the belt rubber hardens and makes it more likely to crack and perrish so causing it to snap
