How can I fix my coffee maker?

I have a Tim Horton's 12 cup drip coffee maker. Ive had it for a couple of years and it has worked great. It now doesnt want to work anymore. It has an extra tank which holds an already warm pot of water so it doesn't take to long to make a pot of coffee. The heating element does not get hot. I took the bottom of the maker apart and checked for power, which was coming from the line and the switch. It seems to me the heating element is no good. Would that prevent the coffee maker from working? I need a little advice, I would hate to just chuck it into the garbage. Thanks.

yes ronald you are right if the element is not getting hot then this is most definately going to be the problem, try contacting the company who produce the coffe maker to see if they can supply you witha new element ,good luck ronald.
