vw touran hatch wont lock?

i have a vw touran 04 went on hol closed hatch but wouldnt lock, has anyone have any ideas what it could be or is it just a case of buying a new lock.

New lock required. About £35 + £65 labour. My daughter'sjust had the same happen to hers. I think she negotiated a 10% discount at VW Kettering by smiling sweetly!
