ive got a 84 100 1.8 acordin to the book spray all the bolts + pivots . looks like theres 2 types old type were you loosen the pivot first and then just slaken the lock bolt and give it a tap. newer type loosen pivot bolt if fitted then the top adjuster bolt is in 2 parts the smaller midle bit is the loker wile the outer bit adjusts the tension like a rack and pinion. first give the bolts a spray wit wd40.
