How do I open the gearbox on my Kenwood Chef to replace the grease?

The grease in my Kenwood Chef has liquified over time and drips into the bowl. I have removed all the screws from the gearbox top but am struggling to separate it from the bottom half. Seems to be the gasket sealant that is bonding it together.

how to open gear box for btf 040

make sure you have taken all SIX BOLTS out of the top then unscrew the domed bolt in the centre of the part underneath that the paddel fixes to, tap the gear box a few times at the joint all the way round with a small hammer and it should come apart. I have just opened one that way. Take care not to lose any pieces Good Luck
