I'm pretty sure yours will be the same as the Polo set-up.

You will need to under 1 Torx screw, then unclip it.

yes 56 plate

just read some where that the mirror had to come out and there was clips and screws but very vague

A newish Skoda? The unit is probably an LED one, just unclips and replace with a new one. The LED ones don't fail often though.
