The main hoover pick-up works extremely well. However, the handle when used in the dismounted role does not have any suction. I have checked the filters and robustly shaken the expanding tube but to no avail.
I'll give very good odds that it's a muck blockage at the base of the tube, I have suffered the same problem. Grit your teeth and dismantle the flexible hose, the problem will be there.

Mine's the same. Design fault I guess. We have a cylinder dyson as well which works very well for those harder to reach places.
