The remote control on my Hunter ceiling fan operates the fan?

The remote control operates the fan OK but will not turn the lights on or off. I have done all of the trouble shooting that is issued by the Hunter Company but to no avail. I have also replaced both the remote control and the reciever.

Hello,
I have the same fan. #25885 Black. I recently reinstalled it June 29,2008 after a move in 2000. I remember the remote was going out. I bought my fan in 1996.
Also the dimmer feature in the fan is very noisy. I simply purchased a new Lutron "Maestro IR" White/Blanco MIR-600THW-WH. You can purchase this at Home Depot. I cut the Light wire coming out of the Hunter fan module. You can wire these seperately. Where the original rooms light switch is I installed the Lutron switch. Since this is wired already to the light fixture, I wired it only to the light bypassing the fans power wire. Now I ran a new hot lead from another location to the fan's power leads. I believe you said only the light was not working. You use the original Hunter Fan Remote to control the fan's functions. I use the Lutron to control the light. It is remote controlled. I special ordered another remote for my wife. She has the same remote on her side of the bed. No fighting for remotes here. You will love the features of Lutron Maestro IR. Very quiet no humming. Preset capability.
Good Luck

Check to make sure wiring is correct.
