vauxhall vectra 1.8 petrol 2002 no power but high revs when accelerating?

vauxhall vectra 1.8 petrol 2002 no power but high revs when accelerating
In 1st and 2nd gear when i press the accelerator the revs go up but the car barley moves. If I press the pedal more slowly the car does pick up speed.
Someone told me this could be a clutch problem could they be right or could it be something else?

Hi this is almost certainly the clutch friction plate is in need of replacement .but first just check there is no adjustment on the clutch cable.

sounds as if your clutch is slipping
