Alarm goes off intermittently although food is ok. Freezer is about half full and I have made sure that air vents are clear. In the last 24hrs alarm sounded at 5hourly intervals until 10-30 this morning and (fingers crossed) has not sounded since. What is the problem and what do I do if it happens again?

Thanks for your answer to my question re: the 5 hourly alarm on my freezer. I thought you may be interested to know that I took your advice and bought a thermometer. However I then realised that my problem was that the inside temp was TOO COLD, so I altered the setting to compensate and it has been ok since. So, thanks again, if you hadn`t suggested it I probably would never have bought that thermometer and would have been buying a new freezer instead.

the alarm goes off if the inside temp gets to -12.the food will appear ok as you say but it will not last as long.Keep an eye on it and get a thermometer in there and monitor the temp
