ford mondeo 2001 central locking?

my key wont open drivers door, it seems to keep slipping and not catching mechanism properly. would a new cut key help?

ford keys are bad for wearing,if you have a spare try that,try some spray grease in the lock also,if you get a key cut it will have to be coded in if you want to use it to start the motor.
