Elevated floor in open kitchen. Does it look good?

My kitchen tiles had become very dirty so i decided to lay down new tiles over the old ones with an adhesive but as i have an open kitchen would the elevated area look good?? please answer asap as the work starts in a day!!

If you are not certain get a few sample tiles and place them on the floor without adhesive see if you like the look or not.

If you do you will need to clean the floor prior to laying new tiles on top.
