Replacement carbon brushes for Bosch Rotak 40?

How do I find replacement carbon brushes for Bosch Rotak 40 lawn mower
David, October 2010
Exactly the same failure mode for my Rotak 43. Seems weird you can't get spares for it.

Has anyone found a source for the Bosch Rotak carbon brush holders?
Btw, Ricky K. Don't use regular plastic to make replacements. It will melt.

hi John did you find any replacement bush holders as mine have failed too? i

I am also having problems with a Bosh Ergoflex 43. Brushes need replacing but also the plastic brush holders. I can find the brushes online but not the plastic brush holders. Just wondered if anyone has any ideas where I can purchase them. Thinking of trying to make some out of brass but it seems a long winded way around the problem. Appreciate any help.

I have exactly the same problem as yourself. The plastic brush holders are a pathetic design, and very flimsy. Mine to have broken and I need to replace them, and just like yourself, I may try and make a better pair using some rectangular plastic tubing. I also agree with your last sentence. Yes I am afraid it's a throwaway society today compared to the repair society of yesteryear.

Solent tools provide replacement carbon brushes (see link below)

I have also had a problem with my Rotak 40 but need to replace the plastic brush holders - unfortunately Solent do not stock these. I have tried to improvise a repair but unfortunately my 'new' holders only maintain position for a few seconds.

I have looked at buying a replacement motor but it is prohibitively expensive - £170.99 from Currys Partsmaster. A brand new Rotak 40 can be bought from Screwfix for £89.99. It's a bit dispiriting when you make attempts to repair something but it turns out cheaper to dispose and replace it!
