Isolation switch for shower will not switch on or off it is jammed,I dare not pull the cord too hard as it may come off the ceiling - has anyone any idea how to free it

peccavi, I went and bought a new switch today, which will get fitted this weekend. Thank you again.

by the way it is stuck ON.

It can not be mended, the shop assistant said if you try to take it apart it will spring all over the place so they must have heard of this before.

if it's stuck it will be stuck either on or off - it can't be half way.

if it's stuck On - then shower when you need to and call out an electrician to replace it - it it's stuck Off then bath instead of showering and call out an electrician to replace it.

Replacement is not difficult to do yourself but you will need to make it safe when working on it and have some confidence about doing the job - may be best to call in an expert.
